Scholarships & Financial Aid
The Albright Philosophy
Albright believes that students should make their enrollment decisions based on the quality of our academic and extracurricular opportunities, not on cost. To make that possible, we offer numerous merit scholarships and awards, in addition to generous need-based financial aid awards. We are pledged to help make Albright affordable.
Merit Scholarships & Awards
 Because students who have excelled academically add to the quality of life at the College, Albright offers a variety of scholarships and awards.
All scholarships are for full-time study at Albright, and all are renewable if the recipient maintains the required grade point average.
The process of applying for scholarships and awards is easy: Simply apply for admission by July 15th (for the fall semester) and December 15th (for the spring semester). * Once admitted, applicants are automatically considered for scholarships by the Scholarship Committee.*
Notification of scholarships* and awards* is made within two weeks of the admission decision. You do not need to apply for financial aid in order to receive a scholarship and award.
* Not applicable for the Eugene Shirk Scholarship and for Talent Awards. Only applicants for the fall semester are eligible, and each has a deadline.

Talent Awards for talent in art, music, theatre or journalistic
(Talent is assessed on the basis of auditions for music and theatre, or portfolio review in art and journalism. The deadline for receipt of work for review is March 1. Music and theatre auditions are given by appointment only in February. Only fall semester applicants are eligible.) |

Need-Based Financial Aid
Financial aid is awarded to students based on their family's demonstrated financial need. Students who receive scholarships are also eligible for financial aid; in fact, most scholarship and award recipients also receive need-based financial aid.
At some colleges, admission decisions are influenced by whether an applicant applies for financial aid. Albright's admission decisions are independent of requests for financial aid.
To apply for financial aid from Albright, you must complete only one form -- the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We encourage you to submit your FAFSA over the internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you prefer to file a paper application, you may request that we mail you one. You may also obtain a FAFSA form from your current college's financial aid office, your public library or the federal government (by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID).
When you complete the FAFSA, be sure to indicate that the form be sent to Albright College, code number 003229.
Financial aid awards are made after the offer of admission. You will be notified of your financial aid package two weeks after Albright receives your FAFSA information from the Department of Education.
You will receive a letter with the total amount of your award, and the award amounts offered from each program. A typical financial aid award includes:
• Grant- a gift to you that does not have to be repaid;
• Loan(s) - borrowed funds that must be repaid, with interest; and
• Employment - on-campus jobs that provide money for educational costs.

To help you understand how your financial aid package will make an Albright education affordable, we have provided examples below of financial aid awards prepared during the 2008-2009 academic year.
Please be aware that financial aid eligibility is determined on an individual basis; similarities or differences from these examples may or may not result in similar financial aid awards being offered upon review of your application for financial aid.
