Men’s Cross-Country Competes in Paul Short RunFriday, October 3, 2008 BETHLEHEM, PA - In the 35th running of the Lehigh University Paul Short Run, the Albright College Men’s Cross-Country team placed 34th out of 41 teams that competed in the Men’s White Division Friday morning. In total there were 269 runners that competed in the White Division, while another 45 teams and 295 runners competed in the Brown Division. Finishing first in the meet were the Bombers of Ithaca College. In total the Bombers had one runner place in the top 10, another in the top 20, and three in the top 30. The meets individual top finisher was Wake Forest’s Greg Billington who closed out the 8K race in a time of 25:21. For the Lions, freshman runner George Cook (Brick, NJ/Brick Township Memorial) closed out the race as the team’s top performer recording a time of 28:21 giving him a 129th place finish. Next in line for the Red and White was Robert Kellert (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) whose time of 23:41 earned him 157th place. With a pace of six minutes even, freshman runner Eli Frey (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley Senior) ended the afternoon with a time of 29:47 earning him 197th place. Spencer Shaak (Reading, PA/Exeter Township Senior) and Jacob Goldberg (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) closed out the top five for Albright College finishing in 211th and 234th place respectively. Freshman Donald Wonnie (Reading, PA/Wilson) and junior Anthony Carrozza (Reading, PA/Reading Senior) were the final two Albright runners to cross the finish line. Both worked exceptionally hard, and battled through the large field extremely well. Wonnie's time of 32:04 earned him a 238th place finish, while Carrozza managed a 264th place finish with a time of 35:26. Men’s Cross-Country will take the trails next Saturday when they compete at DeSales University. Start time for that meet is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Meet Results |
