Women’s Cross-Country Competes in Lehigh’s 35th Annual Paul Short RunFriday, October 3, 2008 BETHLEHEM, PA - Out of 37 teams that competed in the White Division of the 35th annual Lehigh University Paul Short Run the Albright College Women’s Cross-Country managed a 34th place finish in Friday afternoons meet. In total there were 255 runners that competed in the annual event, with the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland earning the top team honor. As a whole the Red Dragons top five runners placed in the top 50, with the remainder of the team finishing no lower than 66th place. The meets top individual performer was Ursinus College’s Christa Johnson. Johnson closed out the 6K race with a time of 22:19, finishing with an overall pace of 7:12. Throughout the afternoon the Lay Lions fought extremely hard. Sophomore runner Gabrielle Stine (Archbald, PA/Valley View) recorded the team’s top performance with a time of 26:00 (196th place). Behind her by 47 seconds was Melony Alcorn (Schwenksville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) who crossed the finish line in 190th place. Senior Tomesha Campbell (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) ended the meet with a time of 28:07 and a 211th place finish. With a time of 28:37, Michelle Reinhart (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) earned herself a 216th place finish. Kristin Sawey (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon Senior) was next in line for the Red and White as she crossed the finish line in 223rd place. Nicole Kelly (Brick, NJ/Brick Township) remained close to Sawey throughout the afternoon finishing just six spots behind her teammate (226th). Kyra Schirk (York, PA/Red Lion Senior) closed out the meet for the Red and White with a time of 32:56 and a 237th place finish. Women’s Cross-Country returns to action next Saturday when they travel to DeSales University for their final away meet of the season. Start time is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Meet Results |
