Becki Fidler Named Head Field Hockey Coach at Albright CollegeMonday, August 11, 2008 READING, PA – On Monday, co-director of athletics Janice Luck and Rick Ferry announced the appointment of Becki Fidler as the new head field hockey coach at Albright College.
Fidler replaces former head coach Michelle Hahn who left the program earlier this summer. A standout player for her entire career, Fidler-Slotten was a four year member and three year starter on the East Stroudsburg University field hockey team. Throughout her time with the Warriors, Fidler would help guide the field hockey program to some of the best overall finishes in program history. In only her first season with the Warriors, Fidler helped the team earn a combined 16 wins, and a second place finish in both the conference and national tournament. The team’s finish in the national tournament was a program first. The 2002 season, would once again see Fidler and her team in postseason play, this time in the ECAC tournament. The Warriors went onto take the championship defeating Stonehill College by the score of 3-2 in overtime. She would then close out her final two seasons with the program as one of the team’s top defensive players. Her senior year saw her lead the Warriors to a 12-7 finish as the teams co-captain. Prior to her collegiate career Fidler proved to be a standout player in high school, leading the Oley Valley High School field hockey team to four Division titles, three county championships, three District III championships, and two PIAA State Championships. A native of Oley, PA Fidler graduated from East Stroudsburg in 2005 where she received a degree in Elementary Education. The Lady Lions field hockey team under the guidance of coach Fidler will open their 2008 season on Friday, August 28th at York College (PA) at 4:30 p.m. |
