Nineteen Named to the MASCAC Winter Academic Honor Roll Friday, April 3, 2009 ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation (MASCAC) winter Academic Honor Roll, which notes academic excellence by student-athletes, contains 315 honorees as announced by Executive Director Ken Andrews.
The Honor Roll comprises those student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing.
Messiah led in selections with 52 student-athletes, while Lebanon Valley was second with 35, followed by Elizabethtown at 33. Widener was fourth with 31 student-athletes on the list. DeSales was fifth with 26 and Lycoming had 25 student-athletes. Misericordia and Albright tied for seventh with 19. Arcadia was ninth with 17, King’s was tenth with 14, and Delaware Valley had 11 followed by Alvernia and Manhattanville (7), Wilkes (6), FDU-Florham (5), and Eastern (4).
Featured on the Winter Honor Roll are MAC Swimmer of the Year honoree Chris Sheerer (Leola, PA/Conestoga Valley) and Women's Basketball First Team All-Conference selection Annie McMahon (Havertown, PA/Haverford).
Student-athletes are selected from men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s track & field, women’s track & field, men’s swimming and women’s swimming.

The Falcons secured the top spot in this year’s championship meet with a total of 163 points. In second was DeSales University with 88 points, followed by Elizabethtown College (79), Misericordia University (66), and Lebanon Valley College (61). Albright ended the meet with a total of 31 points. At Right: Brianne Genter was part of the 4x200 meter relay team that placed second at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship meet To start off the day senior sprinter Brianne Genter (Clintondale, NY/Wallkill Senior) placed third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.59 seconds. Genter continued her top five performances with a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.33). In the 400 meter dash Meghan Loos (Reading, PA/Twin Valley) and Danielle DiPietro (Springfield, PA/Springfield) finished in seventh and ninth place respectively. Loos’ time of 1:04.77 was a mere .11 seconds behind Shenandoah’s Brandi Sobanko. Moving onto the relay’s, the 4x200 team of Shannon Loos (Reading, PA/Twin Valley), Meghan Loos, Renisha Conway (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley), and Genter combined for a second place finish with a time of 1:51.09. The 4x400 team of Shannon Loos, Meghan Loos, Genter, and DiPietro earned a fourth place finish with a time of 4:19.18. Junior De’on Mallory (Paterson, NJ/Paterson John F. Kennedy) recorded a distance of 34-11.00 to take third in the triple jump. Senior Christie Weist (Mohrsville, PA/Schuylkill Valley) ended the championship meet as the only competitor in the shot put and weight throw. Her best mark day came in the weight throw event with a final distance of 39-00.50. That mark earned the senior thrower sixth place. Complete Meet Results | Women's Indoor Track Wins Five Events in Home MeetFebruary 14, 2009 READING, Pa. – Christie Weist was victorious in two events Saturday afternoon for the Lions, leading them to a solid performance at their home meet. Weist won the weight throw by a decisive amount of just under 12 feet, by finishing with a throw of 36-04.00. She had a little more competition in the shot put, but still managed to win the event with a throw of 31-01.00. De’on Mallory (Paterson, NJ/Paterson John F. Kennedy) won her second straight triple jump finishing with a distance of 9.98 meters. Meghan Loos (Reading, PA/Twin Valley) and Danielle DiPietro (Springfield, PA/Springfield) went 1-2 in the 400-meter dash. Loos finished with a time of 1:09.02, and DiPietro was only a second behind her, clocking in at 1:10.05. The Red and White would also win the 4x400 meter relay, beating all opponents by 4 seconds, finishing with a time of 4:39.02. Michelle Reinhart (Bernville, PA/Tulephocken) took on the brunt of the distance runs on the afternoon and did so successfully. Reinhart received a 2nd place finish in the 3000-meter run, and two 3rd places in the mile and the 800-meter run. Senior Brianne Genter (Clintondale, NY/Wallkill Senior) was consistent for the Red and White in her two sprinting events. Genter got 2nd place in both the 200-meter dash (28.1) and in the 55-meter dash (7.58). Loos, Renisha Conway (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley), and Erica Zeiters (Middletown, PA/Middletown) all finished in 3rd place in their respective events, chalking up more points to the Lions total on the afternoon. The Red and White will travel to Haverford College for a non-conference meet Friday afternoon beginning at 4 pm.
