Art Market for Families & Kids

Participate in hands-on art making activities that let you create original works of art you can then display in the gallery and trade for other artworks in an art fair setting. Refreshments and all materials provided.

Founded in 1997, the Boston-based Walden Chamber Players has garnered a reputation for being one of the most exciting and versatile chamber groups performing today. This string trio concert features works by Bach, Beethoven, Krenek, and Schedl. Join us on the CFA Mezzanine for refreshments following the concert.

One of the great American plays of the 20th century, Williams’ Pulitzer-Prize winning drama is ignited as Blanche Dubois, a fading southern belle, unexpectedly appears at the door of her younger sister, Stella, in the steamy French Quarter of New Orleans, with the news that their family plantation, Belle Reve, is lost.  The shock gives way to suspicion as Stella’s brutish husband, Stanley Kowalski, engages Blanche in a series of volatile confrontations to ferret out the truth. As Blanche’s sordid past begins to catch up with her, she begins a tragic descent into madness that sets the stage for the most brutal confrontation of all.

Fusion: Albright’s Annual Fashion Showcase & Runway Show – Experience Event

This highly anticipated, annual event highlights the work of Albright’s fashion student designers through exhibition displays and a high-energy runway show. This year’s fusion theme will celebrate the opening of the new Science Center and challenge our students in ways that are sure to result in some creative displays and visually engaging designs.  Don’t miss this exciting event!

IntertwinedIntertwined
(Sunday) May 19 – July 1, Freedman Gallery

The Freedman Gallery’s summer 2012 installation, Intertwined, examines the artistic relationship of a mother and daughter, and a father and son, who have experienced extraordinary circumstances. Features local favorites, Mary Stoudt and Sybil Roe Thompson, along with Dave “Big Dutch” Nally and Will Nally. Mary’s innovative quilt techniques have been honored nationally, and Sybil is known for working with bright geometric colors and reclaimed materials. kids in the summer art and theatre camp. The Nally Boys also work with reclaimedmaterials, and their recent independent and collaborative constructions, part sculpture, part functional craft based on Dutch’s background in carpentry, are infused with symbolism and satire regardless of whether they are exploring the mysteries behind love or current events. Curated by Emily Branch, Director,Outsider Folk Art Gallery.

JUNE

Write Your Own Script, a Visual Art & Theatre Summer Camp
June 18–22 & 25–29, 10 a.m.–noon
Working with Albright’s Artist-in-Residence Jeffrey Lentz ’85, students will use art from the summer exhibition to inspire their imaginations as they write, stage, and perform a short, one-act play. Working with props, costuming, and other elements of theatre will be addressed. 

$75 weekly rate, per session, per child
$120 weekly rates for both daily sessions, per child (save $20)

Jazz Workshops with Mike Eben
June 25 – 29 and July 23 - 27, 9 -11 a.m. and 10 a.m. - Noon, Roop Hall
For students 7th grade or above. Must be able to read music and play several major scales from memory. Drummers should own a drum set and be familiar with its basics. Learn how to improvise using blues scales and modes. Rhythm section will learn how to accompany soloists as well as soloing. Guest clinicians TBA. $50 per student.
