If I'm using an Ethernet cable, can I just plug it into the wall?

Yes - provided that the port is "turned on" in that room. If you suspect that a port is turned off, contact the Information Technology Helpdesk or call 610-921-7676 for assistance.

I want to use wireless Internet. What do I need to do?

If you want to connect your own computer to Albright's wireless network, you need to contact the Information Technology Helpdesk or call 610-921-7676 to find out how to register your computer's Media Access Control address (also called a MAC address, not to be confused with Apple/Macintosh computers). To connect to the wireless network on any computer, you need your network username and password.

What is my network username and password?

Your network username and password are the credentials that you use to log into your office computer or any other networked computer on campus (in the Computing Center and Mathematics labs, for example).

How do I connect to my network drives on a library laptop?

Because the library's loaner laptops use a general login with no privileges on the Albright network, you need to map a network drive using your own credentials.

1. Go to My Computer and pick Tools > Map Network Drive.

2. The Map Network Drive wizard comes up. In the Drive: field, specify a letter for the drive you want to connect. In the Folder: field, specify the drive address.
