Textbooks

The Lion bookstore at Albright College

The Value of a Textbook

Buying textbooks can be an exciting but also painful moment. They are a part of college. But they seem to cost a lot. What are you really getting?

Other than professors, textbooks are the most important source for what you learn in college. The decision to go to college represents a major financial investment in your future. Textbooks are a small part of the cost, but a large part of the value. They are carefully selected by your professors, and represent year s of study by the authors. They are sources of information, and tools of reference and practice to be used whenever and wherever. Your notes in the margins become a diary of your intellectual growth.

A library of textbooks from college is a unique personal resource that will serve you all your professional life. The novelist Christopher Morley said: "When you sell a person a book, you don't sell just paper and ink and glue - you sell a whole new life." Textbooks are an important part of your new life. Use them, enjoy them, and keep them. Good Luck. Association of American Publishers, Inc.

Book Buyback

Book Buybacks are conducted twice a year on a regular basis. They are held during final exam week in December and May. The times and dates are posted throughout the campus. Prices and demand are established by using a buyer's guide supplied by The Nebraska Book Company. Any book purchased by the bookstore will be at 50% of the list price.

In addition, when the time permits, the bookstore buys back books from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Fridays throughout the school year. If you have any questions concerning textbook information or book buybacks, please call Joe at 610-921-7274 or email at jpreletz@alb.edu.
